Kerry for Choice has joined Together for Yes, the National Civil Society campaign to remove the Eighth Amendment from the Constitution.
Kerry for Choice spokesperson and Convener Paula Dennan said: “We are proud to join the national Together for Yes campaign to remove the Eighth Amendment from the Constitution on Friday, May 25th. We are calling on all pro-choice people and groups across the county to join us as Kerry Together for Yes.”
“One woman every week leaves Kerry to receive abortion care abroad. By voting yes on May 25th we will ensure that no-one else needs to make that journey. We will be allowing a woman to make a personal and private decision about when to continue or start her family. We will be allowing doctors to give women and girls the care they need here at home. Abortion care will be provided in a safe and regulated manner, in line with best medical practice.” Ms. Dennan concluded.
Ms Dennan urged people to make sure they are registered to vote: “People should check that they are on the register by contacting their local county council office or online at www.checktheregister.ie. They can still get on the Supplementary Register by completing an RFA2 form, which is available from their local council office, post office or online.”
